AutomaticCoinMachineAscom MultiToll Solutions, leading provider of toll collection systems, will supply its compact automatic coin machines to London-Luton Airport to be installed in the very busy drop-off zones to handle ultra-fast processing of the parking fees. This equipment, generally used for toll collection on motorways, bridges and tunnels, bears out to be particularly adapted for speedy parking fee collection.

The contract has been awarded by ACS UK, having supplied the London-Luton Airport parking system, and who was looking for a solution capable of satisfying the specific demands of an airport’s drop off zone. This zone allows solely departing passengers to stay a maximum of 10 minutes and represents an important flow of vehicles. The compact automatic coin machine featuring a basket instead of slots for the payment with coins has revealed to suit the best this purpose and allows increasing dramatically the number of cars that can be processed in the exit lane, especially during peek hours.

Indeed, the processing speed for one coin is only 0.35 second and for 4 coins just one second. Moreover, the compact ACM can process any type of coins or tokens (up to 15 denominations). It is equipped with a jamming system rejecting automatically foreign objects causing the jamming. A flash memory allows storing software programs for better reliability and flexibility. Due to its compactness, the equipment is directly installed in the parking exit lane and may also be integrated in a parking terminal in order to offer additional means of payment.

The compact ACMs will be in operation at London-Luton airport by mid April 2009.

Ascom MultiToll Solutions SAS, based in Asnières, France, is an Ascom Group and Ajax Holding subsidiary.
