Toll Booths for Irish N6 |

Ascom MultiToll Solutions, based in Asnières, France, announces award of a toll booth contract from N6 Construction Ltd (Ireland) for the supply of 10 toll booths for the new N6 extension of 58 km which connects Galway to East Ballinasloe. This new dual carriageway will integrate the M6 motorway network which links the east of Ireland to the west, from Dublin to Galway. As of 2010, the M6 will replace all former one-lane tracings of the N6. Our customer, N6 Construction Ltd, belongs to the ICON consortium, created within the scope of a PPP (public-private partnership) scheme for this N6 Galway-Ballinasloe concession. ICON comprises two major Spanish civil engineering companies, FCC Construction SA (second Spanish civil works group) and Itinere Infraestructuras (SACYR group) as well as Irish FBI Hegarty & Sons. This project forms part of a strategic east-west road corridor and will result in significant reductions in travel times and remove an important volume of through traffic from the towns and villages along the existing N6.
The 10 booths, to be supplied for September 2009, will be installed in a toll plaza close to Ballinasloe (5 lanes in each sense). The same type of booths, validated by our customer NRA (National Roads Authority), has already been provided by Ascom MultiToll to the N8 Fermoy in 2007. These booths have a specific design chosen by NRA, mother company of N6 Construction Ltd, and include a stairwell for each lane. Ascom MultiToll Solutions SAS, based in Asnières, France, is an Ascom Group and Ajax Holding subsidiary. |
